The Castle from the Valley of Peles, the summer residence of the kings of Romania, was built at the time of King Carol I of Romania (1866 – 1914) and became one of the most important monuments of nineteenth century Europe. On land bought by the king have been built near the castle: Pelisorul, Body Guard, Economat, hunting Turret House, stables, power plants, and Villa Sipot. Pending the castle (1883), King Carol I and Queen Elizabeth, lived at the house hunting, finished before the castle. Because of its power plants Peles castle was first electrified in Europe.

The arrangements for after 1900, residence was supraânaltata with a floor, also the main tower. In its final form, the building with an area of 3200 square meters, has 160 rooms and over 30 bathrooms. In the 160 rooms of his castle housed one of the most important collections of paintings in Europe and a rich collection of weapons, with over 4,000 pieces and Eastern Europe, XIV-XVII centuries.

The beauty and richness of colorful stained glass and carved timber get the right visitors admiration. Peles Castle is visited, the rate of 35%. The hall of honor, a reception room made in 1911 by Karel Liman in a former courtyard is richly decorated in wood and is covered with windows.

Rooms arms were arranged between 1903-1906, and the hall councils, rich in intarsia in 1914. Florentina Hall, Grand Salon is decorated in Italian style neorenasterii. Room Louis XIV style theater has 60 seats and the royal box.

Imperial Suite was arranged in 1906, in the style of Maria Theresa to visit the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, Franz Josef. After King Michael’s abdication in 1947, Peles Castle came into the tourist circuit and all the other buildings were used by people of culture of the time. After the last years of communism throughout the complex was closed, now only remains Tower, the presidential residence. Economic and guard are furnished hotels, restaurants and all the other buildings became villas, or protocol.
